Show t GREEN MONSTER PROGRESS y t i special correspondence jerome ariz april 5 at present the t reen monster mining company is doing icv 1 ricely development work at two separate localities about half a mile apart at the revenue mine where the company any has its camp electric substation and teen compressor om considerable exploration has abeen 1 done investigating the underground continuation of a large strong jasper vein ground bound in the rattlesnake tunnel and the eighty five foot sunk from that tunnel ic A shaft feet deep has been completed and nd a crosscut feet long has been made lo 10 0 o the west with the intention of reaching he large jasper vein at a depth of feet elow the rattlesnake it this work on the foot level has cut a well ell defined vein carrying considerable waiter er seams in the hanging wall show co opy rite but not in commercial quantities as yet and crystallized copper glance occurs A sparingly A drift to the south has been V on this vein but the crosscut will be tex tended farther to cut a quartz porphyry if I diorite contact which is expected to show L at this depth A crosscut has been run feet in length to the north 1 long along a seam or fissure showing coarsely crystallized iron in spar at the cliff mine whose great jasper outcrop is the most prominent feature of the southern half of the district exploration work in the gorge tunnel the lowest working has cut two bodies of mineralized schist carrying copper pyrite both deposits carry ore but development to date on these bodies has not developed the ore in commercial quantities though from these deposits several tons of 6 to 7 per cent ore has been sorted and piled up on the dump the faces already opened in the mine show ore for a width of two feet over a distance of thirty five feet at one place and feet by seventy five feet in the second deposit the is not regular but spotty A raise on the small body showed about 8 per cent ore extending ten or twelve feet above the drift with ore still in the bottom cross cuts show the deposit to be narrow but very persistent at the larger a now sixty feet deep shows the ore to pass out of the in a direction to the north and west at about forty five feet below the tunnel level this will be sunk to a depth of feet and crosscuts cross cuts will be driven to intersect the ore at present the company employs thirty five men working two shifts in four places it has a full and complete equipment with electric hoist at the shaft pumps compressor and all necessary mining machinery |
