| Show production OF SPELTER AND LEAD the average annual rate of production for the period december 21 to january 25 was short tons as indicated by the weekly reports of the U S geological survey these reports show an increased rate of production although during the period of five weeks december 21 to january 25 there was an additional accumulation of stock of more than a weeks production curtailment of production will be necessary to prevent further accumulation and to permit the absorption of existing stocks this has now begun the pueblo plant of the united states zinc company A S R co has closed this plant has an annual capacity of tons domestic lead the domestic production of lead is probably at the rate of short tons yearly which C compared with the 1918 production from domestic ores of short tons shows that a drastic curtailment in production has been effected the st joseph lead company has shut down its smelter and will ship its ore product production i on to other plants this company is one of the largest factors in the domestic industry having produced short tons of lead in 1917 and short tons in 1918 the other missouri misso uri producers including the desloge and national lead companies have cut production probably to 50 or 60 per cent of last years rate in idaho the hercules Hercule 3 and tamarack ouster custer mines have closed as has the northport North port smelter these properties produce about tons of lead concentrates yearly the bunker hill and sullivan has cut production to 75 per cent of last years rate utah apex has laid off men stocks of pig lead on january 1 the following stocks are ar reported short tons domestic smelters shelters sm elters and refiners refinery re finers domestic consumers estimated government of great britain canada trail smelter australia S G geological survey british government sto stocks acks increased during january to short tons on february i 1 |
