Show THE GALLOUPE SHALE PROCESS sentinel grand junction colo combining as it does all of the favorable features of previous retorts and improvements that have developed as a result of the errors found during early experiments it is believed that the corfield galloupe shale retort solves the problem of the successful and economic extraction of oil from shale preliminary experiments conducted with the retort erected here by E G goldsworthy charles wilkinson and J H galloupe have proven the process faultless s so 0 far as can be determined at this time in fact so great has been the success of the experiments conducted to date that the galloupe shale process company has been organized by the three gentlemen and already much local capital has been interested in it it would be impossible at this time to go into a detailed statement of the working of the new galloupe process of oil extraction the process is of the continuous feed type insuring the constant flow of crushed shale the maximum utilization of heat as there is no waste in the re charging of the retort the saving of practically all of the oil content within the shale and the utilization of all surplus Z gasses probably the greatest feature of the new process is that practically no water is required red in the retorting hence a plant can be located where plants of the other types would be an impossibility because of the lack of water this feature also reduces the cost of installation and of operation making it easily possible to work many of the leaner shale deposits at a profit another advantageous feature of the new process is that it is automatic throughout thus reducing the operating expense to a minimum worked in dry regions the fact that the new plant can be worked in dry regions because of the dry process used will make it possible to locate the plants on the shale ledges instead of or hauling the shale for considerable distances and at a heavy expense to the plant sites the plants are also so constructed ted that they can be moved and set up in small sections making it possible to erect them on plant sites that could not be reached by y the machinery necessary in the heavy and more cumbersome processes the plants are made automatic throughout after the shale is mined it goes into a crusher where it is reduced to the proper sizes zes for the retort it is automatically fed into the machine it is probable that in the Etan standard dard sized retorts only about five min aes will be required for the shale to pass trough through the retort during that time all of the e oil and product byproduct by content is removed the e residue being automatically expelled from om the base of the retort I 1 the heat is applied on both sides of the retort retort so that every heat unit is utilized the e construction also makes possible the re dorting with but a small amount of fuel while the continuous feed arrangements save much of the expense of other processes where it is necessary to permit the retort to cool before re charging the standard units will be of twenty five ton capacity though it is possible that larger units will be erected on special orders and for the larger plants the system is so arranged that there will be some twenty frac tio nations the lighter and the heavier gasses passing off from the retort as they are generated thus preventing any material part becoming a fixed gas the new process has been developed by J H galloupe inventor of three previous processes the process was explained to E G goldsworthy and chas wilkinson some time ago and so confident were they of its success that they contracted with mr galloupe for the erection here of the experimental plant the contract providing for the formation of a company should the process prove up to expectations the galloupe shale process company has now been formed by the three gentlemen it is capitalized at with a par value of 1 and already a large amount of the stock has been contracted for by those interested in oil shale will erect complete plants the company proposes to erect only complete plants including not only the retort but the crusher and power plants conveyors and other adjuncts as well and their ultimate aim is for the manufacture of the P plants lants in this city as they will here be near the shale fields where they are to be located A number of shale companies have been awaiting the tests of the new process before installing plants and it is probable that the new company will begin with a goodly number of orders for complete plants on their books the company will have its own engineers gi geologists and other experts and will be equipped for the complete installation of the most up to the minute shale plant to be had on the market today toda Y |
