Show PRINCE WILLIAM SOUND REPORT the producing copper properties on oil prince william sound alaska appear to have been only slightly affected by the confusion in the financial and copper markets resulting from the european war an increased quantity of copper ore was mined last year but the average grade of the ore mined was much lower than in the preceding year the value of the metals recovered from these copper ores in 1914 was also less than in 1913 this decrease was due largely to the lower grade of the ore mined although the lower price received for the copper content of the ores aon contributed tri buted slightly to the decline in the total value of production the productive mines of the prince william sound region in 1914 included two copper mines and eight gold mines these are described in detail in bulletin E mining on prince william sound by B L johnson recently issued by the united states geological survey A copy may be obtained free on application to the director of the survey washington D G C |
