Show STRIKE IN THE GOLD ROAD uncover a blind bind vein of fine ore in sinking an air shaft special correspondence kingman arz may 24 1910 the most important of a number of new strikes made in the san francsco francisco district this week is that of the gold road mine where another large body of milling ore seems assured as the result of a find made in sinking an air shaft crosscutting cross cutting at a depth of feet in air shaft no 2 between main working shafts nos 1 and 2 of the gold road exposed nine feet of ore assaying from 12 to 14 per ton and neither wall is in sight the strike was made almost directly under that part of the ledge where a few years ago leasers leaders mined ore netting as much as a dol ar per po pound und and where the droppings crop pings were later quarried and netted an average of 30 per ton this first ore body was never believed to go down and no other was found for a number of years until the present great ore shoot over 1000 feet long and averaging twelve feet in width was proved on the and foot levels on the level directly under the latest strike the ore is eighteen feet wide so that the tonnage of ore blocked out will probably be increased c greatly in a short time D P wright of victorville Vic torville california who bonded a group of claims near boundary cone recently has found stringers of ore assaying as high as 2000 per ton he is sinking four shafts and showing ore in all of them other str strikes Kes of high grade ore are reported by A C adams of los angeles and L E armel both operating near the boundary cone mine A small mil is to be installed on the carter mine which adjoins the tom reed at a recent meeting the directors of the carter company decided to buy one of the huntington mills for formerly mery used by the gold road mine and to treat ore from the upper levels while development is being continued in the foot drift the ore actually proved in the upper levels is some of the best found in the ds brict in the east fifty foot drift there are four feet of ore one foot of which assays essays 40 and the remainder from 12 to 15 per ton on the foot level the ore shoot is four feet wide and averages 25 per ton chloride the new shaft of the tennessee is down fifty feet steam hoist and gallows frame are in place and the foundation for a 75 horsepower compressor has been comp completed feted it is expected that the latter will be installed in a few days and then sinking will be resumed with machine drills and better headway made work has aso been started on a machine shop which will include a 16 inch lathe altogether the substantial and permanent character of the new equipment would indicate extensive development of the tennessee by its owners the needles mining smelting smelling Sm elting co another survey for the twomile two mile spur from the tennessee to the present terminal of the railroad has been made and is now being considered by santa fe officials A hitch in the matter of right of way between the railroad and chloride property owners was the cause of shelving this spur a number of months ago now that all concerned are willing and anxious to have the road come through the town and all objections removed it is expected that the company will begin building soon there are about tons of tailings assaying 16 per cent in zinc and about 5 in go d and silver on the tennessee dumps which are to be shipped to the company mill and separating plant now in construction at needles stockton hill steady development is being pushed in all the properties of the big smelter company at the summit mine some fine ore has been found in the shaft at feet and a drift has been started at this level while sinking is being continued good a progress Ss is reported in the bryan banner and intersection shafts where the first stations wi 1 l soon be cut at feet the strike made in the C 0 D mine several weeks ago continues bigger and better the shaft is down feet and drifting east and west on the level shows continued good ore the west ore shoot is now about 55 feet long and in addition to a abood good body of milling ore contains a foot averaging about per ton the east drift is sixty feet long and also in very high grade ore superintendent mclaughlin is about ready to make his first shipment of high grade the reconstructed mill is being adjusted and will be in operation the first of next week J H ROSENBERG 0 |
