Show STATE SCHOOL OF MINES 1909 senior mining trip will include many western mining camps the senior class of 1909 will take an extended trip through the mining and smelt ing centers of adjoining states during the month of may the class will be accompanied by professors and bradford of the departments of mining and metallurgy respectively the start from salt lake will be made on may ath with denver as the first stop here the smelters shelters sm elters will be visited and a day occupied in seeing the colorado school of mines at golden at denver return tickets to los angeles will be secured by way of the sunset route through arizona going and the salt lake route returning stopovers will begin at colorado springs in order for the class clas s to visit the nearby mines and smelters shelters sm elters an excursion to cripple creek and canyon city will be made with a return to pueblo here the large iron and steel works of the colorado fuel iron company will be examined and the special car then taken to trinidad where there are extensive coal mines and coke ovens in operation from here the trip leads direct to el DI paso texas at which point the large smelters shelters sm elters will be visited next to the copper camps of arizona including clifton morenci Moren cl globe douglas bisbee and jerome A side trip to Ca cananea Cani anea mexico will enable the boys to say they have been abroad and more directly give them an opportunity to view another of the important reduction works the stop at los angeles although it may be brief is looked forward to with much pleasure A dip in the blue pacific will be quite enticing at this stage of the trip the return to salt lake over the salt lake route contemplates a stopover at newhouse eureka and probably mercur the itinerary is now definitely fixed and the railroad companies are showing every courtesy R 11 B |
