located the company now has a mine and has passed the prospect stage credit Is due the management for the success which has crowned his efforts in the development of the companas comp anys property chiefly because of his good judgment in the acquisition of this valuable ground and his faith in its future outcome any novice however who would sink a shaft or drive a tunnel in the companas comp anys property would find ore even if he did not have sense enough to appreciate the value of his discovery so prolific are the ore deposits and so easily are they uncovered the properties of 0 the being done on the indigo blue group of nineteen claims on which a discovery of vast importance was made only a short time ago the manhattan group of eighteen claims a copper bearing proposition i is located th three ree miles north of the indigo blue towards the indian peak country and is quite a near neighbor of the blue jay mines noted throughout the west for the magnitude and wealth of th their e ir ore deposits formation and geology the fo formation ri nation of the indigo blue group of the utah gold copper mines company consists of parallel fissures in porphyry there being seven veins showing on the surface within the environments of the group the fissures have a northerly and southerly strike and dip to the east at an angle of about 40 degrees all of these veins and fissures have been developed more or less by open cuts tunnels and shafts and range in width from two to six feet between well defined walls the ore bodies in the veins are strong throughout and the metallic values are well and evenly distributed through the entire mass on either wall the cleavage of talc defines the ahe ore from the country rock and the pay rock slips from the walls in masses when work is in progress in its extraction little the sulphide ore ranges from 12 to 15 per cent lead 12 to 15 ounces silver and 1 to ain 2 in gold to the ton the sulphides sulp hides are ing tables tabled probably be demonstrated before this issue of the mining review goes to press t prominent mining men and experts recently visiting the property of the company ind and who have carefully examined surface 1 and nd underground under ground workings are unanimous f in the opinion that sufficient ore is now exposed in the indigo blue to justify the installation stal ital lation of reduction works in addition to the magnificent showing in the crosscut cross cut run under the supervision 0 of amr mr breckon work in the tunnel where it 4 turned to the north has disclosed the fact that the workings were run along the hanging wall of a large ore body for a distance of sixty feet or more and short short cross cuts to the west have exposed large areas of the finest kind of mill milling bg ore which is interspersed with rock of first class quality power and water facilities A mountain stream threading its way from the summit of the needle range on whose sides large forests of pine and spruce exist crosses the indigo blue group this water right is owned by the company and supplies half a cubic foot of water a second according to measurement by piping a distance of about 1200 feet a head of feet can be obtained and this head falling on a pelton wheel will generate ten horsepower and this belted direct to a dynamo will vill generate electric power sufficient for the lighting of mine camp and the proposed mill the wheel will also drive a blower for mine ventilation work is now in progress in the installation of this plant from the wheel the water will be conveyed to a tank above the proposed mill from which point it will be piped to the mill and to the companas comp anys camp below where a number of buildings will be erected this summer consisting of boarding and bunk houses superintendents office and a residence for the manager the present camp on the ridge above the tunnel is feet higher than the proposed new camp and et A new road is now now being built from the new camp at a small expense to stateline Stat eline this road will shorten the distance to modena about three miles besides saving the heavy wagon haul over the hill to the present camp the new mill the indigo blue is to have a mill this has been decided upon and money for its erection and installation has been set aside for this purpose this mill is t to be in course of construction within a period ot of two months the process employed will be straight concentration the plant is to handle tons of crude ore daily at first making a concentrate which will stand shipping and still pay a handsome profit the wagon haul to modena on the salt lake route is largely downhill down hill and freighting will cost from to aj ton the company is working a force of twenty men in mine development and surface improvements and this force will be greatly increased when mill building begins and work is begun in ore extraction and treatment the manhattan group equal in importance to the indigo blue is the manhattan group this group is located three miles north of the indigo blue and is marked by immense surface crop ago and can now say that it has ta a mine continued development will doubtless prove that it is mammoth in its proportions work is being prosecuted with the greatest of care and the expense account is restricted to the lowest possible point the manage ment is doing its mining in the ground and is interested in the making of a mine min e only and not in stock manipulation owing to conditions confronting it in the start the company has had a long and discouraging pull but so confident so sanguine has the manager been in the belief that here was the making of a great mine that never for a moment has he despaired dis paired land and now that he is surrounded by men of excellent reputation and who control ample capital for the carrying on of the enterprise it is a pleasure to his many friends to learn that he is rapidly approaching the goal of his ambition XI z 19 1
