Show THE DELMAS COPPER COMPANY magnificent showing of High grade ore in elko county copper mine the delmas copper company of salt lake operating in railroad district elko county nevada is feeling way up in high C over recent developments as work progresses in mine operation and exploitation the companas comp anys extensive and valuable holdings are located in lee canyon six and a half miles from evans siding on the eureka and palisade road and but eleven miles from palisade where the road connects with the main line of the southern pacific in mine operation the company is giving employment to a force of ten men and large bodies of payable ore are being blocked out for consignment to the smelt ers the company has ten claims in its group seven of which it owns outright while three are held under bond and option railroad district is an old and proven camp which has produced its millions in the past principally in silver before the copper zones acquired their present prominence while the ores goto go to the deep as has been proven in the instance of one property where a depth of feet on pay mineral has been attained and the present holdings of the delmas company have a record of former production amounting to more than a million and a a quarter in the coin of the realm it is now nearly two years ago since D P delmas vice president and general manager of the company secured control of what now constitutes the extensive domain of the delmas copper company in railroad district since which time he has performed a large amount of development work and shipped tons of first class ore he has also built two and a half miles of mountain wagon road so that now ore haulage to jo the railroad is an easy matter while the getting in of supplies is less costly than heretofore A fine spring furnishes an abundance of water and pinon pine and mountain mahogany is plentiful for fuel and for mine uses in the development of the delmas five tunnels have been run one above the other on the ledge and all are in ore of good shipping grade the lower tunnel is now in a distance of feet and during the past few days a cross fissure has been cut in the face the extent of which has not yet been determined and this carries ore of exceptionably good grade according to ad vices from superintendent louis basso who has sent in samples and in his letters says quite a change has occurred in the sweepstakes shaft we quit sinking in the ore which followed us from the surface and commenced sinking in the we are down about forty three feet and the ore we struck looks better than anything I 1 have seen here I 1 am sending you a sample I 1 am also sending you some pieces of rock from the lower tunnel the sweepstakes shaft is being sunk from tunnel no 2 to connect with the lower tunnel in another letter dated august 8 mr basso says 1 I am sending you a sample from the breast of no 1 lower tunnel the fine is the drillings of a hole we are putting in there was about a foot of it today after we shot but it will take two or three shifts yet to tell just what it will amount to the shaft is about the same the assays essays made of the samples sent by R H officer co went as follows ore from shaft gold 22 ounces silver and 13 per cent copper from tunnel 22 ounces silver and 13 per cent copper at the present time the company is employing three shifts in the driving of its tunnel and two shifts in the shaft it is the intention of the management to purchase its own freighting outfit at an early date when regular ore shipments to the smelter will begin the stringency in the money market of late has had a somewhat depressing effect upon company operations but it is free from debt and with the fine showing it is able to make at the mine is confident that the sale of treasury stock will soon enable it to operate on a scale commensurate with the value of its property the officers of the company are J D wood president P D delmas vice dent and general manager W F earls treasurer treasur i er S M delmas secretary john L A marks W M ingalls and ed nissen all of whom are well known in business and mining circles |
