Show RAISE EMBARGO ON 3 DAIRIES Will Allow Moss Mos Brothers Gol Golden Golden Golden den West and Mountain to Sell Milk I The embargo on milk from the Moss I Brothers Golden West Vest and Mountain dairies at Woods Cross will be raised by bythe bythe bythe the state and city health officials today so that milk can be sold In Salt Lake tomorrow by these dairies for the first time within a week The embargo was placed on these dairies as ros a result of the he typhoid epidemic which has claimed seven victims and has gripped per persons persons persons sons young and old in Salt Lake in scarcely more than two weeks week Following instructions from Dr T B Beatty Beatt secretary of the state board of health proprietors of ot these three dairies have made the needed changes A final investigation will be made today by iJ deputies deputies deputies ties in the state board of ot health office and if It all orders have been followed coca dairyman will receive notice that he can again bring brine milk to the city elt During the last few rew days in inthe Inthe inthe the city water works department have been busy cleaning the city reservoirs as dS asa asa a n result of ot the request received from the state board as a precautionary meas measure measure measure ure against the spread of the disease It Is not thought possible that the tho water supply has had anything to do with the typhoid epidemic but state officials de decided decided decided to take every precaution so Super Superintendent SuperIntendent Superintendent Tom Hobday was to clean all of the reservoirs and mains All of the reservoirs have now been cleaned They included the supply tanks in Parleys canyon on Thirteenth East street and the one on Capitol hold hall This work shut oU the water for a time on the northeast bench Saturday but the water was running again yesterday Work Worl will be started at once in flushing the mains and Superintendent Hobday said last night this would be completed In Inthe Inthe inthe the next ht hours The cleaning of or the tanks made the water roily all of 01 Friday and Saturday as a small amount of sediment was flushed through some of the pipes but this condition will willbe willbe be over as soon as all the mains are com completely completely completely cleaned It is expected that there will be a de decrease decrease decrease crease in the number of typhoid cases reported this week owing to the fact that the officials have given out a gen general general en eral warning and citizens are taking especial care that what they use Is not filled with germs The advice to boll all water and milk and to wash such fruits and vegetables as are used has been followed lately and It Is believed the cases will become fewer now until the epidemic has ceased There were cases caSiS of typhoid last week and fifty the week before and the record this week It is believed will be scarcely fifty though numerous cases are still being reported The reporting of cases by the physicians of 01 Salt Lake Is being done much more promptly than In the past and this too Is aiding In the fight right against the spread of or the disease After two days davs of rest It is probable that both Dr S G Paul assistant city health commissioner and James E Flynn emergency man in the health will be back In the fight today Dr Paul has been ill III for four days and his ab absence absence absence sence has seriously crippled the work of the department owing o ing to the fact that Dr M 11 R Stewart health commissioner has refused from the first to take an ac tive hand in the fight |
