Show JOHN H BOWDLE LAID AT REST Impressive Funeral Service Is Held in Methodist Episco Episcopal Episcopal Episcopal pal Church While the solemn and beautiful strains of Nearer My God to Thee sung by Mrs A S Peters helped to console bereaved relatives Judge John R B Bowdle Bowdie was laid at rest in Mount Olivet cemetery yesterday afternoon The funeral services were impressive and attended by a large concourse of friends The rendition of the old hymn by Mrs Peters brought tears to many man eyes At 3 relatives and friends assembled in the First Methodist Epic copal church where the pastor the Rev Dr Francis Burgette Short de delivered delIvered delivered livered the sermon and the Rev W WM M lf Paden of the First Presbyterian church offered prayer and read from the Scriptures S The pastor pronounced an eloquent eulogy and told of the veneration in which Judge Bowdle was held by all who had known him The church was filled with friends of the late Judge Bowdle Bowdie After the sermon a quartet sang Beautiful Isle of Somewhere and Mrs Peters sang a solo Saved by byGrace byGrace byGrace Grace GraceA A large concourse of mourners were in the cortege to Mount Olivet cemetery cemetery tery tory where the usual rites of the Methodist church were observed The pallbearers were C M Morris L 1 N Bailey Frederick Eberhardt T TA TA A Dix W D Gaby and nd E McCar McCarrick rick The floral tributes were numerous and beautiful |
