| Show SOUTH VISITED BY TROPICAL STORM SEVENTEEN LIVES LOST AND PROPERTY LOSS OF MILLIONS OF DOLLARS buildings blown down and crops destroyed when windstorm sweeps across alabama mississippi and louisiana new ne w orleans la loss ot of at beast seventeen lives and property damage which may total several millions of dollars resulted fram the tropical storm which swept the east gult gulf coast day wednesday and turned inland thursday all the deaths reported occurred hear beloit ala where seventeen negroes lost their lives there was no alss ot of life ike in either mobile or Peni pensacola acola the largest cities in the storms path but the property damage at mobile was at least a million dollars damage in pensacola was confined largely to water front shipping laurel miss reported that the property loss there would aggregate there loss ot of life jackson and meridian reported considerable damage to crops and farm buildings reports from gulfport Gult Gulf port biloxi pass christian and bay st louis miss told ot of little damage there with no loss of t life buildings and crops in and around beloit and tallahassee in alabama were damaged and crops suffered throughout the storm area the storm did little damage in southeastern louisiana except to crops according to reports of 0 residents of grand island and barataria Bar ataria in new orleans there wa practically no damage this city being on the edge of the blow |
