Show Fire. Another fire occurred in the city last evening, and this time it was of a more serious character than the blaze of two or three days ago. Tbeill-fated building belongs to Mr. Sam Levy, od West Temple street, and is a frame structure two Btoriea high. The fire broke out between the roof and the ceiling, and had made considerable progress before being discovered. The firemen, with their hose and hook and ladder truck, were early at the scene, and boou had two powerful streams of water playing on the building, build-ing, but owing to the difficulty in get-tine get-tine at the flames, it was some time before the fire was extinguished. The damage will amount to several hundred dollars, the roof being almost totally destroyed, and the ceilings and upper fijors were also injured to a considerable extent, as well aa the walls. Much of the furniture and household goods were aUo destroyed or greatly damaged, eilher by tbe fire or water. A couple ot children in ihe bouse at the time the fire broke out had a narrow escape, but were, fortunately, rescued wilnout injury. We understand the property was insured. |
