Show The I'aris Exhibition:. New York, 11. A meeting was held this afternoon of prominent merchants, bankers, manufacturers and representative men from nearly every state interested in the Paris exposition. ex-position. M. Condert presided, aud expressed the hope that everything would he done on this Bide to exhibit the industries of the great west in Paris. A national executive com-mitteeof com-mitteeof representative men throughout through-out the couutry was appointed. The following were elected permanent officers of the American union of Paris exhibitors: General Joseph R. Hawley, president; A. T. Gosboru, tir6t vice-president; Robert A. Cheese-bore, Cheese-bore, second vice-president; Augusl Belmont, treasurer; H. D. Olcott, corresponding secretary; Maxwell Woodhull, Washington, recording secretary. The chairman explained that the French government required applications to be made through an oilicial body or committee. The chair was authorized to appoint a committee to go to Washington Wash-ington and-urge upon the president and cougref an acceptance of the invitation in-vitation ot France to uke part in the international exhibition, and to make proper provisions for Americans repre- i sented there. j |
