Show Careless o ess. We have heard recently of blunders made by druggists of this city in giv ing out meuioines, which might have been productive of fatal consequences had the errors not been discovered in time. The danger of carelessness in this direction is shown in tbe following follow-ing incident related of a physician: By some unaccountable mistake, Dr, Ephraim M. Epstein of Cincinnati Cincin-nati caused the death ot his little son, aged 3A years. On Monday evening he drove to a drug store, and from his buggy ordered "six grains of sulphate ol morphine," which was supplied to him and properly labelled. With his mind occupied by other matters, he returned home, and laboring under un-der tbe delusion that he had purchased quinine, administered three grains ol the drug to the sick child. Soon tbe mistake was discovered, and physicians physi-cians were summoned. The ohild rallied under their treatment, and vib supposed to be out ol danger until un-til Tuesday morning, when a relapse occurred, and, with an unfinished prayer on his lips, the little eufierer died. |
