Show Spirits. Jonathan Blank was a firm believer be-liever in what is termed spiritualism, had attended many seances, and received re-ceived occular proof of the utter fallacy fal-lacy of talking about "that .bourne from whence notraveler e'er returns." He had seen theru and knew they were genuine "spooks." So one night he returned to his abode in a stronger belief than ever, and retired to his couch. He had not long been asleep when he was awakened by a strange noice, which proceeded from one corner of the room. ''Must be spirits," thought he; then aloud: "II there is a spirit here who wishes to corn ruu meat e, it will please signify it by rapping." No answer was returned. "Can't be as good a medium as I thought I was," lie sighed, and then repeated the question, which was followed fol-lowed by three ponderous raps. "Who are you?" demanded our amateur medium, becoming con vinced that a genuine spirit had taken up her abode in bis room, "Are you my sister?" No answer. "Are you my mother?" Three raps. "Will you show jourselt ?" Silence. "Will you come a train ?" Pouderous rapping; rap-ping; and the young man went to sleep, only to wake up in the morning and find that his mother's "spirit" bad walked ofl with his watcb, pocket book, and Bcveral small articles. It is perhaps unnecessary to state thai be now denounces spiritualism us a humbug, and when anyone no talks about spirits he is seen to bluali painfully pain-fully and disappear. |
