Yesterday, while Henry Myers' freighting outfit, with six men, fas camped twelve miles south of here, they were visited by three men, who cooked their dinner at the camp fire, and made themselves them-selves so agreeable that all of the freighters except the son of Myers gathered about them. Young Myers w is suspicious, and wont to one ol the wagons where he got his shot gun and remained away from tho party. During the conversation around tht camp fire one of the strangers admired ad-mired a shot gun belonging to the freighters, and took it to examine it. Suddenly he cocked aud levelled it, .stepped between the freighters and their arms and ordered them to throw up their hands, Baying they would take what money there was in the outfit. At this young Myers Mtepped from behind the wagon and fired, the shot striking the robber in the face and breast. The robber wheeled and fired at him, but missed. The robber theu dropped the gun and ran, firing at the parly with bis revolver. One of the freighters Bhot at him with a rifle ball, striking him in the arm. He fell, and Boon after died. The other two road agents fled and are not yet captured. A party under a deputy sherifl fr,om here iB in pursuit. The body of the dead robber rob-ber was brought in here last night, and has been identified as that of a man known as "Texas Frank." It believed that this was the party who robbed the Sidney coach a few nights ago. None of the Myers party were hurt. |
