Show PEOPLE'S TERRITORIAL CONVENTION- Heaoquauteks People's TEiniiTOitiAi. ClSTKAL CuMMiTfEE, Salt Lake City, Stpt. 9, 1S7U. To (he J'eotle oj Utah: The election of deleytile to represent the Territory of Utah in Iho Forty -fifth congress will lie held on TiKSthiy, November 7 Ih next ensuing, and it in moat desirable that tho candidate chosen as tho repreacutiilivo of tho people should receive their lullest support and tlmL every person cntitkd to the elective franchise should exercise exer-cise it on Unit day. To tho end that an increased interest inter-est nmy bo awakened in election matters aud to endeavor to draw out the entire voto of the territory on this important occasion, it has been determined to hold a People's Territorial Terri-torial convention, composed of delegates dele-gates from the Beveral counties, to convene at the city hall in Salt Lake city, on Saturday, October 7tb, 1S76, at VI m. Tho Wusiues of this convention will be to nominato a candidate lor delegate dele-gate to congrecs, and to inaugurate such measures as will insure increased in-creased attention to our elections throughout tho territory. The number num-ber of delegates to compose the territorial terri-torial convention has been fixed at seventy eight, being twice the number num-ber of the councilors and representatives representa-tives in tho legislative assembly, and I tho allotment of delegates to the aev-wtal aev-wtal counties has been based, an iaras possible, upon their representation in the legislature. To secure the proper election of these delegates it- is suggested that each county hold a county convention composed of delegates sent from primary pri-mary meetings previously held in the .several precincts. Thedeleg:tcs to the territorial convent iou should come duly authcnlicUi d with credentials creden-tials signed by the president and secretary of the convention appointing them. It will be well for each con- . vention to appoint alternate delegates to represent the county in case of the failure of the regular delegates to be present at the convention. It is alio suggested that each county convention con-vention while in Ecssiou appoint a county central committee lo attend to all election matters in its county, which committee should immediately ore anizo and uhieo itself in commun ication with tho people's territorial central committee, at Salt Lake city, that concert of action in these matters mat-ters may be secured throughout the territory. The number of delegates to the territorial convention to which each county is entitled is as follows: County. No. County. No. Suit Lake 18 Sanpete... 5 Utati 8 Wasatch 2 Juab 3 Summit 2 Millard 3 Morgan- - Heaver 3 Davis 4 Piute 1 Box Elder 3 1 Iron 3 Tooele 2 Kane 2 Weber 5 , Washington.... 2 Cacbo - 7 Sevier 2 liich 1 .' Total 78 It is hoped that the leading men in each county will take immediate steps to carry these suggestions into tUect, by calling primary meetings in their precincts aud coun'y conventions conven-tions in their counties, that the people may be thoroughly aroused to their duty, that the rult of these measures meas-ures may prove beneficial to our citizens, citi-zens, and that the delegate selected to represent us in congress may receive, re-ceive, at the coming election, such 0 vote as was never before given to a dclr-gate from any territory.
