Show News from Mount Pleasant. i Mount Pleasast, 1 January 27th, 1876. Editors Herald: Tho good people of this burgh were recently regaled with an excellent lecture by Mr. Clegg, of Springvillo, on the beauties and consistency of the i bible; also the reading of an original , poem. A move is being made by the citizens citi-zens to have the limits of the city curtailed to the bounds of the town-site town-site entry, and for an increase of powers, made imperative by tho growth of civilization. Last Saturday a number of young ladies gave a leap-year ball and supper, sup-per, which was a most enjoyable affair. The same ladies propose a series ot similar social evonu, the proceeds to be devoted to the foundation founda-tion of a free library. Success is the. prayer of ever lover of progress and culture. The enterprising ' trustees CI i ft, Mad.sen and Yensen, have, with limited resources at their commard, just brought a fine school house to completion, ready for occupancy. It is intended, however, before fastening the desks down, to ive a ball, the proceeds to be devoted to the purchase of niHps, etc., -for the use nf the school. Coat of school house, $2,500. This town filled itd quota of five families for permanent homes in Arizona with an alacrity remindful of former days.
