Lyon'a testimony in the Schenck investigation: This testimony, testi-mony, so far as it inculpates me, is made up of lies without containing ono truth. This man Lyon in the fall of 1S70 brought a suit in my court in Utah against the owners of the Emma mine. Ho failed in an i attempt to bribe with one hundred thousand dollars. He failed to make a case entitling him to an injunction. He then went to Washington, and under pretence of retaining them as counsel, attempted to bribe men in high places to exert their political influence to secure my removal from the bench. He tailed with the same, and tho conspiracy failed. In swearing swear-ing that "the other justices were joint partners in tlio Emma mine interests," inter-ests," I believe Lyons commits perjury, per-jury, and I know he commits perjury 1 in regard to me- |
