Show DRY CANON. 3Iiuins Ni'w IYm Or Iiir Dis I net Pruspiu'ts (loud and Improving. Dliy CaSon, March 2d, 1S77. Editors Herald: March has como up to its proverbial prover-bial standard this year, and come in like a lion. With us at least this is the case, aud we aro hoping that the "old saw" may provo correct this time and the month come to a terminus ter-minus with lamb like weather ns an accompaniment, and thereby cause the heart of the gentle miner to be filled with much joy. tellurium. In days gone by sulphuret of silver was the extent of our ambition. Tnat olatof mineral was considered rich enough for the common run of miners min-ers and prospectors, and but a few high-toned individuals were ambitious ei.ough u desire hum silver; but since 'hit rich i-irike ot heretofore mythical "telluiium" in tho Kear-surge Kear-surge the camp has adopted a new watchword, and now every bjdy in looking lor 25,000 aud 30,000 dollar uye, and wue-u a piece ot dirty looking n;ir is Sound in any of the mines, the miuer goes down on his marrow bones, like a moon-eyed celestial when he ivorahips bufore his Joss, and peers loug and anxiously tor somo indications of a new species of mineral. THE KEAIiSAKQE MINE. This" groat bonanza holds its own so far as rich ore and great quantities of low grade ore are concerned. The lessees are taking out a large quantity of liie last named grade, and leaving the fabulously ricii or out ot the question, have a good enough thing in the large vein of the less valuable ore. The YANKEE DOODLE MINE, situated about 200 feet west from the Kearsarge, has lately been brushed up and put in shape for work. With a proper amount of development this mine has a fair s'.iow tu someday-rival someday-rival its neighbor, and the owners have determined to giro it the required re-quired amount of development. THE BELLFON TAINE MINE, 1 for a long time idle, has recommenced operations, the owners being spurred thereto by the repeated strikes ot lich ore iu various mines in camp which were almost considered des;rled aud useless. They have- been rewarded for their pluck by the finding of a good sized body of ore, which shows by aainplo 43 Oi. silver and 2S per cent, lead, per ton. THE EVENING STAR MINE has also been reopened, new track put down, the accumulated debris hoisted to the surface, and tho mine put in good working order. I am informed that the owners propose giving their property the benefit ot a thorough prospecting. This mine is developed by two incline in-cline shafts, each aboat 400 feet deep, with ore trom the surface to the bottom bot-tom of each. There are also several shafts, cross-cuts and drifts, with a fair showing of ore in all of them, and there is no reason, without it bo the past dull times, why this very promising property should hve lain idle so loug. THE MAGNOLIA MINE has boen working constantly for several sev-eral months, and the owners have made several very fair shipments of ore, and the manager, Mr. L. Granger, is giving tbe mine a thorough prospecting. He has struck a body oi ore in several places, lying to the left and west ot the old workings, which promises to be permanent. THE CI DOT MINE is keeping up its reputation as one ol the uru-pro.lucing mines ot Dry canon making regular monthly shipments of bich gnuh; ore, and constantly con-stantly improving in uppearance. The parties who have it under boud and lease have as yet no cause to regret re-gret their venture, and the mine bids tair to pruve one of the best ore-producing properties iu Die ramp. The UTAH (jl KKS 11 INF, originally located and owutd by the Lawrence Itros., an 1 by them s.'id to Carson fc Buzzs, was la.it summer soid to Borne of the latter firm's employes em-ployes to satisfy a judgment. Tne new owners have bceu prospecting tho mine during the winter, and have, so says report, struck the vein of ore which was overrun when Car-sou Car-sou tt Buzzo were working. For the truth of the report I canuut vouch, hut one thiog is sure, there has been a couple of large shipments of ore sent away from the mine during the past mouth. THE FUTURE PROSPECTS of this camp are more than good. Up to this date the production of ore has been doubled us compared with the output of last season, -and persons who are posted and competent to judge tell me that next summer will quadruple the amount of the present production.
