Secretary Schurz, to-day, by order, created a board, consisting of Dr. Kicharu Joseph, disbursing clerk of the interiordeuartmeut, J. B. Farrell, chief of division in the second comptroller's comp-troller's office of t!o treasury department, depart-ment, and Amos lidluy of tho interior in-terior department, to examine into the methods now in force, in the finance and accounting divisions of the Indian bureau, especially as to an analysis of the money and property accounts of Indian agents, and whether tho aocuunta of agents are rendered in accordance with tho law and regulations ; whether auy expenditures are made without with-out proper authority aud whether the present system is such as to show at all times the condition of money and property aflairs at each agency. The last quarterly reports ot agents aro to be scrutinized for the purposes above mentioned, aud a particular examiaatiou will bo made as to the number and compensation of em-ployuj em-ployuj at each agaucy, and whether they aro given or allowed to purchase subsistence or clothing in violation of law. The hoard aro also instructed to inquire as to tho character and total money value of specie purchases pur-chases for any agency during the , present fiscal yoar, and whethor such purchases have beon properly accounted ac-counted for. The board are not to be limited by these specific instructions, but are to make such further investigation inves-tigation as may be doomed proper for the best interests of tho service.
