Show City Council. Meeting of the city council, Tuesday Tues-day evening, Mayor Little presiding: Petition of tho following druggiata: Tuggart &. Sod, Z. C. M. I., Godbe, Pitts & Co., and Moore, Clements & Go., asking the council to repeal the I section of the ordinance prohibiting the sale of soda water from fountains -- j on Sunday; referred to the committee (jjn municipal laws. The auditor presented his report for the quarter ending May, 31st, 1876. Referred to the committee on finance. The supervisor s report lor the quarter ending May 31st, was referred re-ferred to the committee on claims. keport of the city assessor and collector col-lector was presented, accompanied bj the assessment roll for the year 1S70. The roll showed the assessed value of property in the city to be 7, 011,370. The report was adopted, mid the rate of taxation for the year was fixed at three-fourths of ono per coot. August 15Ui, at 2 o'clock p. m., was nxed as the day when the council will eit in tpecial session to hear complaints concerning the assessment roll. The compensation Of assessor and collector, including clerk hiro, stationery and omce expenses, ex-penses, was fixed at $2,500. Bill of Kirk ifc Co., for whitewashing whitewash-ing fireman's hall, $15, was allowed. The water ordinance was taken up and dhcussed untii a late hour, when the couucil adjourned until Friday evening. |
