Show SNOffSLIDES. Four or Fiye Men Killed and Property Destroyed. The beaeon of snowslides has indeed in-deed set in at Littlo Cottonwood, and tho usual account of death from that cause begin to come in. In yesterday's yester-day's Herald wcro tho particulars of tho narrow escape from destruction of Mr. A. S. Patrick and four of his teamsters, at that fatal spot, Suporior gulch, and this morning wo have to chroniclo a long list of snow-slide catastrophic, which aro painful to contemplate. Four tmen, and probably five, Btnothered and crushed into eternity by one of thoso destructive destruc-tive avalanches, is only part of Monday's Mon-day's casualties in tho snowy regions at tho head of thoCottonwoods. Tho following special dispatch gives a synopsis of two days' casualties, not including tho Suporior gulch slide, an account of which has been ulready published: Alta City, 12. A snow-slide occurred occur-red on Honeycomb gulch at 2 o'clock yesterday, carrying away tho Annie tunnel houso and killing four men Jos. Renfrey, Jas. Glosson, John Frenberth and John Cox. At 3 o'clock to-day a slide occurred, demolishing the Vallejo boarding and ore houses; also two Bectio'is of the tramway, and burying three mon in tho tunnol who wore afterwards dug out. Two of them were slightly injured. in-jured. Jackson, a colored cook, is missing and supposed to bo dead. One of the slides passed over the South Star and Titus buildings, slightly slight-ly damaging them. |
