Show Road Wagon, i J A led was yeettrday made oftl.e power of the road wagon brought ido this country some yrs ago. A loaded wagon were attached to it in front of the etore ofG. M. Scott & Co., which the steam wagon drew along Main street, up tbe bill on the rod leading to the Warm Sprines. Tne weight drawn was probably ten tons and the only difficulty experienced was that sufficient steam could not be had to keep tbe machine continually moving, which necessitated repeated stoppings. The defect appears to be iu the boiler being too small; woicb some believe can bs remedied, aad if it can, the wagon will doubtless be of considerable value. Tbe teat was made to ascertain whether it wou'd answer tbe purpose of Mr. W. S. Godbe, in which event that gentleman would have purchased it from Mr. C. Layton. the present owner. However, when the steam wagon got over the hill and commenced a descent, tbe tongue of tbe wagon behind ran into it, damaging the steam vehicle Eome-what. Eome-what. It was taken to be repaired while tbe other wagon remains ou the hill loaded with iron, etc. |
