Show Coiil OU Fire. Pateraon, N.J., 17. A diaaatrous fire occurred here to-night. A coal oil car on the Erie track took fire and the tank burnt and the flaming liquid ran into and flooded the atreet, communicating com-municating the flames to five or six houses, aome of them half a mile away. Three oil cars burst in buo-cession, buo-cession, and several other cars were destroyed. Many families have been rendered homeless. When one of the oil car burst the flimes shot 100 feet high, lighting up the whole city. The paint was blistered on houses a mile distant. The spectacle caused a great excitement, and in the statu peue for safety many persona were slightly injured. The railway tracka are blocked. The loss to the Erie road is $4,000 and on the houtes about 15,000. |
