Show SALMON RIVER. A Few Items About the Mines. A gentleman who has juat returned from the Salmon River country aaya there U every indication of that section sec-tion being remarkably lively next year. That it is n good mining country coun-try there oan be no denying, as the evidences are too unmistakable to be gaiuaayed. On some of the properties proper-ties work will probably be continued all through the winter, but as a rule, developments on the prospects will have to be suspended until the opening open-ing of spring. Among those that will ne worred during the winter are the Ramshorn, Vermont and the Beardeley, probably; and a few i others in Bay Horse district, while at Poverty Flat, in the same district, the Redemption, You Know, I Know, Silver Bell and the Broadway will continue developments. At Kinni-kinick, Kinni-kinick, also in Bay Horse district, the Overland, Ella, Lone Star, Monitor and Faithful Boy are making preparations pre-parations for winter's work. Thia camp is accessible at all times, while Poverty Flat is not. ! Tbe Ramshorn has shipped about 100 tona of high grade ore thia year; a great deal more has been taken out, but it waa picked that the most profitable might be obtained lor shipment, ship-ment, while the other will be kept on the dump until such time as works I have been erected by which it can be reduced. The Beardsley has also Bhipped large quantities of high grade ore. The ore in this mine, as a rule, is not nearly ao rich as that found in the Ramshorn, but there is an immense body of it. The company baa drifted a considerable distance on tbe vein, and so far no walla have been found, and it ia impossible to conjecture what dimensions it will Attain to before be-fore its extent has been ascertained. The Beardsley is owned by brothers, after whom the property ia named; it is bonded, but the l mount ia unknown. un-known. The Utah Boy, situated in the same vicinity, is also looking well. Some ore haa been Bhipped, while there ia more on tbe dump. The prospects lor this property are very Uattering. On Poverty Flat, the Redemption j and the You Know are showing j up very fine bodies of ore, and both are preparing to make shipments ship-ments this year. A force of men will be employed all through the winter in taking out ore, which will be shipped in tho spring. From ap-1 pearancea, these properties are genuine gen-uine bonanzas, uiid will develop into such. The Redemption is owned by J. D. Woods and Brother, A. K.Smith and Mr. Greenhow; while Messrs. Talbot, Liddell and Lowe are the fortunate for-tunate possessors of the You Know. The Silver Bell ia also a very fine propped on tbe a&me ledge, owned by Whitburn aod McConnell. The I Know, adjoining the You Know, is the property of Messrs. Henry Wagener, the late John MoGrath and Messrs. Shaw and Stone. In Kinnikinick the principal mines are the Orerland, Ella, Lone Star, the Monitor, the Faithful Boy, the Rob Roy. Woods fc Company own the Overland; Captain Williams, of Salmon City, and Major Talbot and Judge Liddell own tbe Ella; Mr. Breed, a New York capitalist, and Mr. Potts, the Lone Star; Boon, F.sher & Co., the Monitor; the same company tbe Faithlul Boy; Mr. Mc-Nab Mc-Nab fc Co., the Rob Roy. Some of the prospects on the same ledge look very well, but they have been only slightly developed; therefore, not much can be Baid regarding them. i'roapeotiug haa been abandoned for the winter, but with the opening of spring it will he renewed. There is alill a large country for explora tion, particularly that known as the Wood River and Evst Fork, where aome good ledges wore found last fall. It ia expected that the attention of those engaged in prospecting will be particularly directed to these sections. sec-tions. Tbe Salmon River country is generally gen-erally regarded by miners as poasea-aing poasea-aing the richest surface Bhowinga to be found anywhere; and capitalists are turning their attentiou thither. There ia reason to believe thnt during next summer, when Bmeiters ana mills shall have bean erected, tho country will be livelier aod more prosperous than ever before. Already a well known Salt Lake gentleman is looking for a site in tbe By Horse district on wbioh to erect a smelter. Ho is well ploaaed with the appear ance of the country, and his miud 16 pretty well made up to build the ameller. Tbis ia but one of many 1 that will probably be erected thia coming season |
