Editors) Sas Francisco Cull: Wo hand you herewith a copy of our annual an-nual statement of . precious t metals produced in the states and territories west f the Missouri river, including British Columbia, during 1874, which shows an aggregate yield of 54.401,-055, 54.401,-055, being an excess' of $2,142,362 over 1873. California, Nevada. Utah, Colorado and British Columbia increased; in-creased; Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana, Arizona, and Mexico (west enlist,) decreased. The increase in Nevada and Colorado is merely nom-in:tl, nom-in:tl, but in California and Uth, it is $3,100,000, three-fourths Of which is to the credit of California. In our statement for 1873, we referred re-ferred to the yield $72,258,693 as " undoubtedly the largest for one year in the history of the coast." Tne accuracy ac-curacy of' the BtateniHnt has been questioned, and the yield of 1853 referred re-ferred Vi as being greater. Or. Linda-man, Linda-man, director ol the United States Mint, whose information is probably as reliable as may be had, names 865,000,000 as the amount produced in 1853, and that amount was not exceeded ex-ceeded until 1873, which is now exceeded ex-ceeded by 1874, and the recent developments de-velopments on the Comstock lode justifies jus-tifies the belief that the total product for 1S75 will- approximate $80,000,-000. $80,000,-000.
