In 1S68 ho was renominated on the democratic ticket and was re-elected, defeating Frank Pixley by 23,032 votes against 20,081. After hia second term expired Axtell went back east, and w;ts one of those democrats who left the party when Greeley was nominated at Baltimore. The Mormons Mor-mons have not been enamored with the administration of Governor Woods, Although not so pronounced in his onti-Mormotiism as Chief Justice McKean, Woods has been regarded re-garded by the Mormons as a thorn in their side. Our impressions are, judging judg-ing from the antecedents of Axtell, that the Mormons wiil find him far more tractable than was Governor Woods, for when he was in congress he proved himself an eminently conciliatory con-ciliatory man.
