It was organized on the 5th of July last, with Andrew Burt as bishop and Herbert J. Foulger and William L. N. Allen as his counselors, which positions these gentlemen now hold. In thu ward there are 11G blocks, a number of which are as yet but thinly built on, but which will, aB soon as water privileges are more plentiful, be covered with the homes of an industrious class. Tbe number of residents is something over 800, of whom 220 are children under 8 years of ae. Thia population embraces mechanics and artizans of every description de-scription and uradp, who for the most part believe in honest toil. Between Asb and Beech Btreeta the ward's new meeting house has been erected, and is a creditable building. The hall proper is 44 by 28 feet in the clear, with seating capacity for 350 persons, built of brick,,, well plastered inside, and 16ft. 2 in. from floor to ceiling. Around the entire en-tire room is a neat, deep wainscoting. Tne entrance doora at the west end are large and awing to the outside. The additional work needed to finish it will be a centre-piece and a plaster rosette on the ceding to sach of four ohandeliers; the graining of all the woodwork, an ante room on the west end and a small dressing room at the east end. Next Monday a day school is to be begun in it for the first time since the organization of the ward, with Mr. Matthew Toilet as principal. We viBited thia nev district yesterday yester-day and with pleasure noted the above and the interest taken by the bishop, hia counselors and the ladies in the welfare of the poor there. At the meeting house were a number of ladies of the relief society busily and cheerfully engaged on a couple of quilts for the destitute, of whom there are ninetoeo, dependent on their neighbors for support.
