Show Theatre. Thero was a largo assemblage of both adults and young folks at the matinee yeeterday afternoon to witness wit-ness Miss Rogers as Pauline in the "Lady of Lyons." The effect produced pro-duced can only bo appreciated by the constant rounds of applause that the lady met with. She indeed acts tbe part to perfection. Mr. Lindsay ai Claude was excellont, and the other parts of tiie play wore well sustained, and throughout general satisfaction In tho evening tho performance opened to a crowded house with "Galatea," Miss Rogers sustaining the title role. Our commendations as to her' conception and rendition of this severely classical character are already fresh in the minds of our readers, therefore further comment ia alrrioat unnecessary; but we will simply sim-ply add that Miss Rogers was immense, im-mense, her pose was graceful, well Btudied, and artistically correct. The support was admirable, and tho dissolving dis-solving atatuo capitally produced. The entertainment closed with the sterling play of "Leah." Miss Rogers' rendition of the unfortunate "Forsaken" was a gratifying success and the intensity of feeling she , threw into the tragic scenes . so powerfully impressed her audience , that it drew tears from many . eyes. Sbe was particularly happy in the scene between herself and Adel-bert Adel-bert and his infant child, Leah, In the former her acting rose into sublimity, and the effort may fairly be pronounced tho perfection of her art. Mr. Lindsay very ably personated per-sonated the apostate Jew, and tho other characters wero well sustained i especially that of little Leah by Ivio Clawson, for she acted to a charm. To-morrow evening Tout. Taylor's comedy, "An Unequal Match," will be performed, when Miss Rogers will enact her great specialty, Hesttr Grazehrook, supported by Miss Walters Wal-ters as Bessy Hebblethwaite, Mr. Lindsay on Sir Harry Arncliff, and the ; full strength of the company, i We notice that "Masks and Faces," "Love's Sacrifice" and Shakespeare's i pastcral comedy of "As You Like ) It," are in preparation for production during tho week.
