Show Advantaois of Litb Breakfasting. Breakfast-ing. The Hartford Courant, of Saturday, Sat-urday, says: A lew days ago, in one of the moat careful households in this city, where fenders guard the fire places, and safety matches aggravate tne atrange visitor, smoke was discovered dis-covered in a room adjoining the one where the family were at break fast. Investigate In-vestigate showed that a chair in the room was burning. How it could have taken fire was a mystery, until it wis noticed that the sun's rays, falling on a large magnifying lens, used to atudy photographs with, had been conc-ttrated conc-ttrated through it upon the chair, and had set it lo burning. If the family I bad not fortunately selected for breakfasting break-fasting an hour when the sun is pretty near the zenith, and so prudently pru-dently fixed it to have some one in the room at that dangerous lime, the whole house might have been my tieriously destroyed. |
