Show Citj Council. Meeting of the city council Tuesday Tues-day evening, Mayor Wells presiding. Petition of W. M. Cook, asking that the water which is injuring his premises in the Fifteenth ward, be kept under control, was referred to tho committee on streets and alleys. al-leys. Petition of Jamea Leech, and twenty-four others, asking that the street supervisor bo instructed to examine ex-amine the street crossings in the 2d ward, was received, and the supervisor super-visor instructed in accordance with the prayer ot the petitioner. Petition of J. M. Cain and others, to use a portion of the sidewalk and street in front ol their premises on East Temple Btreet, for storing building build-ing material, for the term of three months, was granted. The committee on fire department, to whom was referred the communication communi-cation of the secretary of the fire department, de-partment, reported and recommended that $800 be appropriated for the purchase pur-chase of three of Donelson's patent branch hose coupling. Report received re-ceived and adopted. The committee on Btreets and alleys, al-leys, to whom was referred the petition pe-tition of Wm. Fuller, asking repairs to be made at the intersection ot 4th South and 10th East streets, reported that the work was being done in accordance ac-cordance with the prayer of the petition. On the recommendation of the committee com-mittee on claims the delinquent city taxes of Mrs. J. Nixon were remitted. Tho committee on claimB to whom was referred the bill of Z. Snow, for services as city attorney, recommended recommend-ed that $500 be appropriated to the said Snow for services to date;a!so that the office of city attorney be declared de-clared vacant, and that the same be filled by appointment of the council, the salary to be fixed hereafter. Report Re-port adopted. The subject of employing a city attorney and fixing his salary, was referred to the committee on municipal muni-cipal laws, associated with the mayor. The matter of removing the bootblack boot-black stands of! East Temple street, was referred to the city marshall. Council adjourned till next Tuesday evening at 6 o'olock. |
