Show Pardoned. Yesterday Gov. Axtell, acting upon up-on the mammoth petition for George M. Norton's pardon, extended executive execu-tive clemency to Uncle George, who was immediately released from custody, cus-tody, and once more permitted to walk the broad earth and breathe the free air of heaven, unfettered. The governor's action in this matter will be well received by all classes of the community. It is to bo hoped that tho little episode in Mr. Norton's life will prove a profitable lesson to him, and there are evidences for believing be-lieving that it will. We understand that after beinij set at liberty yesterday, yester-day, Mr. N. subscribed to an oatli to drink no more liquor, and if he lives up to that oath Micro is no danger of ' ' his ever getting into trouble. |
