Show GENERAL. A Kereread Kosve. N(-w York, 18. Last Sunday Rev. W. J. Cotmeshall, formerly an eldt-r in the Mormon church, lectured in Obickeriug hall, on tbe "Curse ot Utah." About 500 pert on were present, and were entertained with tbnliiug stories coucerumg the Mor mon settlement and its ptople. He seemed in earnest in bis denunciation of the oiime of polygamy and male stroug appeals to the American people peo-ple to take active measures tor its suppression. He said very little, however, could be done until tbe peo pie ol tbe United Slates demanded it through the ballot box. So far as congreds, as at present constituted, was concerned, nothing could be done there, because the Mormon chiets were willing to spend money, as (hey had done heretofore, on mauy occasions, oc-casions, to buy up legislation. |
