Show The remologist. The Utah Pomologist, which has! been taking a nap, has aga:n been iBBued by Mr. J, E. Johnson at St. George, and comes to hand somewhat improved in appearance. They have an Indian farm in that southern ceuntry, which the Pomologist thuB notices: For years someofeur Indians in this vicinity have, more or lets. cultivated patches of ground and raised considerable towards their support sup-port and now some of our citizens are , taking steps towards a further improvement im-provement in their condition by giving them instructions and a little , assistance. They have a farm below aud near Price city on tbo Virgin. This is to be plowed and they assisted to tools, Beeds and instructions, and all possible encouragement given them to do eometbing for themselves instead of begging (or their living. Col. A. P. Hardy has for years been a frontiersman aud interpreter of the Indian dialects, and we understand be has volunteered to give some lime and attention to the improvement of these indolent natives. We wish him every success and bespeak far him a hearty co operation of the citizens. We hear also that some of the lady citizens of St. George have conceived tho enterprise of starting a Bchool for the rud'mentary instruction in letters and books, of these younger heathen among us, and that the St. George Drftmatic association have donated the profits of one evening's entertainment enter-tainment to aid in procuring clothes for these young natives. |
