Show A Swinging. Franklin, La., 22. Jackson El wards, WeBley Turner and Alexander Alex-ander Brown, all colored, were hanged at 11.10 to-day in the presence ot a large crowd. The priest offered a prayer on the scaffold, to which the condemned, listened attentively. Edwards spoke briefly, acknowledging his crime and tbat it was caused by whisky. He hoped to go to heaven and was willing to die. Browa confessed his crime, and believed God would forgive him! Turner declared bia entire innocence and placed the charge of guilt on another man. When the drop fell Brown's knot came untied, and lis tody fell to the ground. He was taken back to the jail until the scaffold was fixed, when he was bwung oft the second time. Good order prevailed. |
