Show The Cowpunchor'g Lament. fr'PiiiKQviLLE, April 3, 1S79. Editors Htrald: I find a communication iu to day's Herald, signed by ''Victims," catit-iog catit-iog very unpleasant rtfljetions upon the citizens and officials of Provo end Spriugville iu relation to Btock passing through the above-named settlements being subject to impositions placed upon the same by the pouudkeppors in tho above-mentioned districts. After reiding "Victims'" letter I calltd upon William Meudenhall, our poundkteper, lo ascertain the facts in the case. He positively deniea , "Victims' " assertions, and states that no cattle have been impounded or fold lo cover damages that may have been committed by herds pasaing through this city. This much I know, that the farmers have eufiered many years, wrongs and impositions that have never been compensated for by cattle drovers and slock owners in trespassing upon our grass and grain w;tbin our field enclosures. With deeirea to see our pleasant cities and fertile fields protected against those who might make the same common corrals in winter and free ranchti iu summer, I remain, a lover of truth ai d facta, W. H. Keleey. |
