Trust Him to guide thee, nor fear aught amiss, The liner's fierce growl, or the serpent's low hiss; Couraga, press forward, thy troubles shall end, ; And Uk u shalt be safe iu tie-house of a i friend. Shall we, Pharisee like, dare to boast-ingly boast-ingly say, " We thank thee, O Lord, we are belter than they 1" This beautiful sentiment is from the pen of a gifted Mormon woman, Emily H. H ondmansea. The poem is entitled "Charity." For many years I have been familiar with her writings, and have always treasured them, as having the inspiration of true poetry in them; and in giving Ibis little selection from her poem, I am proud to claim her as a sister, aud as one who loves women. On turning over the leaves ol my schoolgirl school-girl album, I find another sweet poem of hers. It is called "A Sister's Love." Shakespeare says, "A heart unspotted ia not easily daunted;" then what a world this might be if hearts were always kind, (kiuduees is nobler than revenge,) and if we could only judge others as we would that they should judge us ever erring on the Bido of "charity" certainly, then, lifo would be well worth the living.
