B, Taylor's warehouse was torn to pieces. Several small houses, stores and stables wt?re more or le-a damaged. The nouee of Messrs. At Irving, Kansas, the storm blew down sixteen houses, killed eight persons, wounded about twenty live aud Beveral are mieBing. Tne residences of James Warden, Mr. Armstrong, J. Williams, Mr. Thompson Thomp-son and twelve others, the names of owners not given, were totally demolished. A cyclone struck the earth four miles from Lee's Summit, Ittot evening, and tore a furrow through the country about 100 yards wide, aud ten miles long, leveling everything in the track and killing and wounding several peoplo. Tho direction of the storm was from the southwest to the northeast. Three rules east of Lee's Summit, the house ot Air. V arren was totally destroyed, and two members of the fumily tilled and others severely wounded. Alcbiaon, Ks., 31. A terrible storm of wind aud rain passed over northern Kansas and southern Nebraska last evening. It extended through nearly tho whole northern tier of counties of this elate but was moat violent between Blue Rapids pnd Ceutenuial station ou the Central Branch railway about thirty ar.les apart. The storm moved in a direction a little unrtb of east, and passed into Nebraska through. RichardsOL County, ine towa of Irving, ninety miles north of this place, ws nearly destroyed. At that point the storm took ou the character of a cyclone and levelled everything in its path. About forty buildings were destroyed, fifteen persons killed and from thirty to forty wounded. In the neighborhood neighbor-hood of Frankfort four or five farm houses were blown over, aud in the town several houses destroyed. No casualties at this place, but several persons in the country were severely injured. A Centralia several houses were unroofed, and great damage was done to the crops. At Beatty acumbnrof homes were blown down. At Denison Miila.Neb., the Catholic Church was totally demolished, de-molished, oue lady was severely injured, in-jured, and several residences more cr less damaged. Reports aro meagre as yet, telegraphic communicaticn with the west having been greatly interrupted. A fuller telegraphic reports expected to-night. |
