Show Tho $:;u.OOO Kaee IrlhU, Ilrli;-utio Ilrli;-utio eU-ruun. San Francisco, 1:!. Members of the jockey club say tiio statements of the i'ttrf', Fittd and farm, ami other eastern papers, relative to the $uO,OeH race, art entirely unwarranted by tho facts, and do the club great injustice. The club and owners of the horses are in harmony. The latter are satis-lud satis-lud with the action of tiie club. It is now considered reasonably certain that the race will come oil' on Christmas, Christ-mas, the weather permitting. Tne horses arc reported in gojd condition, except " Wildidiu'' and "Orimstead." , The former will uot run. "Foster" 1 is coining from Oregon to take his place. "Grimstead" will no doubt be nil right in time for tho race. Probably not less than six horses will start. Ex-mcmbcrs of the New York GJth Irish brigade and Corcoran legion, met last night and appointed a committee com-mittee to organize a veteran association, associa-tion, similar to that now existing in New York. |
