Jacob city lias again come to the front with a man fur breakfast, and the camp will now be quite lively for a time at least. This morning a sport named Tracy shot aud mortally wounded one Bill George. They apparently ap-parently -net on the street by pre-conccrttd pre-conccrttd action, pistols were drawn, and after an exchange of several shots, Bill George FELL MORTALLY WOUNDED, the ball entering his abdomen on the If ft side, near the point of the hip hone, and ranting downward through his intestines. He is yet alive, but c-uinot Eurvivo over twelve hours. The row originated over a frail, fair one, who bears the suggestive cognomen cog-nomen or nick-name of "black and tan," She was at one time the pet flame' or object of George's affection, but latterly has been bestowing her favors fa-vors exclusively on Tracy. George, the discarded one, being under the influence of John Barleycorn, visited the domicile ot Tracy, and after some talk presumed lo lay his arm around tho waist of the immaculate B. and T., which liberty was resented by Trary, and after some hot words, the ominous words, "OO HEEL YOURSELF" were uttered by some of the parties, and the result of that interesting operation is that one ol the combat ants is now lying at death's door, and 'some of bis friends who boast that j they have hair growing on their teeth j and were born war horses, are seeking the life of Trcy, and may possibly find a wooden overcoat and a quiet ! resting place fjr themselves before the afiair is ended. THE CAMP is unusually lively for this season of the year, Money is plentiful, and labor abundant. There are few idle men in camp, and those who are idle are ol" the kind that when they go necking lor work, do eo praying with might aud main that they may not find it. They aro generally successful so far as the object of their prayers are concerned. THE HIDDEN TREASURE, noticed in one of my former letters, is the bonanza of Utah, especially in the lead ore lino. Some time ago Hip workmen found a hnrltr nf nm breaking through tho foot wall, and ! apparently running back to the southwest, south-west, aud under the incline. They commenced prospecting it, and have now got a body of grpy carbonate ore twenty four feet thick running downward down-ward towards the Chicago and Fourth ot July mines. THE CHICAGO MLNE has discharged all its men, except a few who, report Bays, are fighting men, and are retained lor the purpose pur-pose of watchingthe Hidden Treasure. From present appearances there is b-l-o o-d in the air. and battle in the programme. The superintendent of the Chicago, while in his cups, a few days ago, made the assertion that he had some tons of powder, glycerine, etc., etc., placed, like Oakes Ames' money, where it would do the most good, and if things didn't go on to suit him, there would be no Chicago or Hidden Treasure mines, for he would " BLOW THEM TO HELL." Where that particular place is I am not prepared to say, but judging from his talk I presume he has got it located lo-cated in this vicinity. The next big thing in camp, and the most talked about is an old prospect, pros-pect, which lias been lying in a dormant dor-mant stitc for some time, and is known as THE MIDDAY MINE, on Siino Fly Hill. Work was resumed re-sumed this summer on this property, and shortly afterward I noticed a stout looking enclosure being built over tho mouth ot tho incline, with door, lock and key, aud the inevitable inevita-ble notice " No admittance" over the entrance. After some skirmishing skirmish-ing around I secured a piece of rose-colored rose-colored spar, and went oil by myself to examine il, and immediately became be-came convinced that the boys had struck it rich. The vein is a TRUE FISSURE, and runs through tho hill from the south to tho north. It is about five feet thick, and shows black shale on both walls. The California Boy mine is also commencing to make its mark in the way of being an ore producing mine. There are now about fifty tons of ore on the dump, and a body of ore in the mine six feet thick. The company com-pany are engaged in building good substantial ore and boarding houses, preparatory to a thorough prospecting prospect-ing and development of their valuable valu-able mine during the ensuing winter mouths.
