"Lulu" "Lu-lu" against time 2.14, for a purse of $2,000, and "Lucille Gold Dust" against "Thomas L. Young," for a purse of $1,500. A large amount was invested iu tho pools, three to one that she would not beat 2.14; two to one that she would not heat 2.15, and even up that she would not beat 2.16. She trotted three heats in 2.16, ,2.14j and 2.16, the fastest three hems Jon record. The quarter of the second sec-ond mile wiia done in 33, the half in 1.00J and the three-fourths in 1.40. The last half mile of tho second heat was trotted dead against a heavy wind, were it not for which "Lulu" would have beaten 2.14 handily.
