Show A Conundrum. Dr. Mary E. Walker, major, etc. , of Washington, arrived in this city Sun lay evening, and located, temporarily, tem-porarily, at theTownsend house. Yesterday Yes-terday the lady was walking around town, aud attracted a good deal of at-tentior, at-tentior, on account of the fashion of heratlne. It has been Baid that Dr. Walter dressed in male habit, . but from a careful optical examination ol her apparel, we think that we are safe in denying the assertion. The gender of nor suit is neuter, and its indicative power, as applied to sex, is embarrassing in the extreme. Her present dress resembles only one thing in the way of clothing, and that U an old suit ol the lady's. It's a sort of a cross between a bathing habit and the every-day contume of a well regulated Chinaman. Sho wears a garment that is half coat and the other half isn't coat, and it hangs down to her knees; a pair of dark colored pantaloons, panta-loons, a dark straw hat aud an umbrella. Dr. Walker is a very intelligent in-telligent appearing lady, sprightly, is rather small, and though not haud-hoine, haud-hoine, is pleasant looking. We understand it is her intention to remain re-main in the city a few days. |
