Show o. pshaw: The Burg's Bugaboo Not Ye! Dispelled. Following is a press dpau h from the scared C. rinne: Corinne, lti. Reports received here to-day slate that the Indians recently re-cently expelled 1mm this valley for an attempted raid upon Cjrinne have not returned to their reservations, reserva-tions, as ordered by government officers. offi-cers. Reliable parties returning from Cache valley, say 1'ocateUo. with his entire band and several smaller companies com-panies ot Indian?, are encamped near Ln'gaU, aoolll LU milrS lIMin IICTC Tuey are at least 1,500 in number, and are bing supported entirely by Mormons, aud under ointrol of the Mormon church. Considerable apprehension ap-prehension is felt by the people of this city that another attach will be made. The citizens have been furnished fur-nished with needle guns and other arms belonging to government, and pickets are suuoned around the city every uight. A joke is a joke, but there is such a thing as carrying it so far as to become be-come disgusting. The Corinne scare was a huge practical joke but was long since carried so far as to place iU perpetrators in a supremely ridiculous ridi-culous attitude. A child in a dark room will repeat "Raw head and bloody bones, coma and catch me," aud on one or two occasions will be frightened at his own words; how ever, he soon learns that there is no more danger "in saying "raw hoad, etc.," than in saying "Little Bo Peep he lost his sheep." Not 10 with the sensationists of Corinne. They have said "raw head," and are going to stick to it. For their own sakea we hope the Corinneites will ere long have as much Bense as children. |
