Show Coaut Von Araim ia Jail. London, 5. The National Presse and J'osl, Berlin, states that Count Vcn Arnim is arrested on a charge of embezzling an important State paper. The Prussian Cros Gazette reports that four Berlin police and r two functionaries of the foreign office " appeared last Sunday nt Count Von Arnim's eatale, NoaBeahid, and de-- de-- manded a number of letters signed i by Bismarck, and Eent to Von Arnim, Ar-nim, while he was ambassador. The L letters relate to the Count's private pri-vate affairs, and were to bo used . as a ba.tis for certain legalproceedings which their possess-r has already in-l in-l Btituttd. The Count replied to the officers' summons that the papers were not in hia house, and he refused to tell where they were and declarer ' that he would not surrender them. The police made a long and useless search through the premises and then conducted the Count to Berlin, Ber-lin, where he was lodged in the police station. The Count's residence in Berlin was also searched, but tha papers were not found. Only a private letter book was seized. The Count's family have petitioned the Emperor for his releaseon the ground of the Count's health, and his .confinement .con-finement is dangerous. |
