Mr. Cox, one of the most intrepid of the New York Herald commission-era, commission-era, has been sojourning in our city for several days and leaves this nicrn-ing nicrn-ing for the East, Mr. Cox, in tho face ot the greatest dangers and at the risk of alrnoat certain death, went into the Lava bods of Oregon and remained re-mained with Captain Jack over the night preceding the terriblo tragedy that ended in the death of General Canby. Mr. Cox has every characteristic charac-teristic of the intrepid correspondent, and his visit to our city has been very pleasant. |
