Show The Police Examination. The examination of the policemen on the charge of interfering with the electic n, was concluded yesterd ay aftornoon before CoramissionerToohy, thouirh a decision was not made. In j the morning two or three witnesses were examined,, among them Governor Gov-ernor Woods, who testified that on the day of the election U. 8. Marshal Maxwell and Deputy Orr were not drunk, as previous witnesses had stated, but that their sobriety, generally, gener-ally, was a well-known fact. At the close of the evidence extensive -rgu-menU were made by Snow and Sutherland Suth-erland for the defense, and Carey and McBride for tho prosecution.. At the conclusion thejCom-oa'ssjioner stated that he would give a decision on the case next Saturday morning, at 10 o'clnck, to which time an adjournment adjourn-ment was taken, the attorneys in the meantime being required to furnish the Commissioner with a written statement of the authorities refcrred 'to in their arguments. The case ol Mayor Welle,- under bonds to answer a chaiga similar to the above has been postponed till next week. ' |
