Show THE CROPS. - There were copious rains in thc Northwestern States last week. which in many localities, came too late to save the crops Iphu a partial or total failure. From twenty-five counties of Nebraska Ne-braska Gov. Furnas had returns that the small grains have yielded good ! crops, but that corn is almost aj failure. None of the counties return that the inhabitants are sutlenng or will need assistance. Reports of the wheat and corn' crops at the several stations on the I Illinois Central Railroad vary from J an extra to quarter of an average crop, the majority of stations ranging from quart. r to half. The wheat crop averaces rather better than corn, a majority oi' the stations reporting report-ing the harvest fair to good. |
