Show Hiss Ki'.lneime Rogers. There was considerable disappointment disappoint-ment felt by the patronsof the theatre last evening at the non-appearance of Miss Katherine "Rogers. Tho lady was detained on the C. P. train which was delayed by the heavy sform3 which have prevailed for the last few days on the Jine of that road. The latest papers received from Virginia City, report the furore with which Miss Rogers was nightly received as unabated. Speaking of her the Gold Hill AW.vof Friday last says: For nearly three weeks the gifted actress, by force of her wonderful genius and superb acting, compelled the attendance of largo audiences at tut; Opi'ra House. H-t popularity does not wane, aud it is a matter of sincere regret that the hour of her departure de-parture is so near at hand. The train on which Miss Rogers was a passenger wa3 reported by telegraph tele-graph to arrive at Ogdenlast night, at 12 o'clock. She will be hero this; morning and appear at tho theatre this evening without fail. This lady has selected the character ; of Juliet iu Shakespeare's tragedy of j "Romeo and Juliet" for her opening, winch is said to be one oi her most masterly efforts; indeed, it is doubtful if any such Juliet h;is ever appeared on the stage of the Salt Lake theatre. We hope she will be greeted with a crowded house. |
