Show Races. A large number of ladies and gentlemen gen-tlemen visited Fausfs course yesterday, yester-day, to witness the races and pigeon shooting. The sport commenced with a half inilodasli Jbr a purse of $-30, between ''Staggering Buck," "Brown Princ.1," " liayCharley" and " Black Bashaw." To-day there is to be a foot race on the same track, between (Jeorge Hammond, Ham-mond, of Montana, and Charles Ma-teer, Ma-teer, ot Kentucky. The race is to be a sixty yards spurt, for $-300 a side. Both of these gentlemen bear reputations reputa-tions of being fleet of foot, and no doubt those who attend tliis afternoon will witness some lively stepping. |
